Faculty and Staff Flex+ Dollars

All current University of California, Berkeley faculty and staff with a valid Cal 1 Card are eligible to purchase Faculty and Staff Flex+ Dollars. An employee who is also a registered student of the University may only purchase an off-campus meal plan.

Flex+ dollars

Flex+ dollars work on a declining balance basis. Flex+ dollars may be used in the dining commons, campus restaurants, convenience stores, and to pay for guest meals at a discount from the cash price in the dining commons.

Flex+ dollars function like cash dollars—1 flex+ dollar has the purchasing power of $1. For example, a purchase of $2.01 would cost 2.01 flex+ dollars. Flex+ dollars cannot be refunded, transferred to another meal plan holder, or canceled.

Purchase add-on flex+ dollars anytime you need:

100 flex+ dollars for $100
50 flex+ dollars for $50

Faculty and Staff flex+ dollars and add-on flex+ dollars remain active as long as the participant is employed by the University of California, Berkeley. All balances must be used by the last day of employment, or funds will be forfeited.

Meals cost about $4 less on average when you use Flex+ dollars.

Use flex or flex+ dollars at any of the following locations and receive a 10% discount on your purchase, yet another way your meal plan helps you get more value throughout the semester.

• Campus restaurants: Gateway Café, Local x Design, Qualcomm Café, The Eateries at Student Union (Ladle & Leaf and Monsoon Kitchens), and The Golden Bear Café (Peet’s Coffee)
• Convenience stores: Bear Market, Cub Market, The Den (Peet’s Coffee and Pizzeria 1868)
